Argus data is very well suited to supporting
network billing and accounting applications. The Argus Project is focused on network audit
generation, but many of the tools that are provided in the basic
release can be used to establish a source of IP network billing and
accounting data.
Argus data is unique in that the IP transaction audit clearly
indicates the initiator of network transactions, the connectivity
status of the network activity that is monitored and information
regarding the quality of the transaction. This information
should help to support a diverse set of billing strategies,
including familiar schemes, such as that used in the PSTN.
Of particular interest is the XML data support provided by raxml(1).
